Facebook Page

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Cathryns-Creations/160987910656000

Since I moved down here, I haven't been able to get organized with switching to a Facebook account as well for the dolls, workshops. Above please find the Facebook page that you can go to now. It has a link too to the Big Cartel site. I am also on Etsy under the business name Cat123 or Cathryn Bump.

Doing some nice small doll workshops down here in Virginia now. Teaching at the Richmond Waldorf School too. It is a lovely community, faculty and school. The children in my class are so sweet and mostly boys, and some girls. A blessing to be here! My son should be back in port by February.

There was a sudden loss of a young male teacher last week that hit hard in the school and community. He was an angel on Earth and showed many of us how to enjoy life. He will never be forgotten.

Hope to see you on either site! Any questions, feel free to ask me!
Many blessings to you
Cathryn

and I have some new offerings...new dolls for sale..but also am offering dolls with or without hair so you can finish..with or without noses...

Little Mountain Fiber Studio: what is this blog all about?

Little Mountain Fiber Studio: what is this blog all about?: "I will be sharing my amazing journeys with growing, harvesting, and dyeing with plant dyes, as well as various fiber arts I love to create. ..."

Settled in Richmond!

By the Grace of God literally, I am here! There were so many challenges along the way...then so much help!! I am so grateful for it all!

Such a nice neighborhood here! House is great! New dog is awesome (thanks Bowser, up in heaven!)..cats adjusting (not as well! but that is a cat for you!)..

Sorting through the Waldorf daycare items..some I will part with..some were my son's and those I will keep..and some others I got along the way. Nice memories!

A friend was kind enough to take my loom and spinning wheel and store them! Hope to get a visit from her soon and my babies back!

Lots of wool to spin still! some nice weaving yarns to work up..knitting/crocheting and sewing projects!

and many more bins to get on my visits up north!

Will be posting treasures soon!

All the best,

Cathryn

New Adventures

On August 1st, I will be leaving this lovely home and yard/woods, for a really sweet rental home in Richmond, VA. I am already making an effort to connect with local creative people in the area. The home is large enough that I can now have my own craft room again! as well as an extra room for guests to visit from the North!

Sadly, I will not be bringing my Bowser with me. He chose to end his time on Earth on Wednesday afternoon, June 13, and is now resting in peace and love on the farm he spent most of his time running free on....also, next to his buddy, Shadow, and near his dear friend, Deb. I will be coming up to visit the spot and honor it for both of them with a flowering tree soon. He was at least 16 years old and in the end, got very ill quickly. I prayed he would chose his time rather than me, and that was honored. But I will miss him dearly...and when the time is right, he will send me a new friend. My cats know he is gone and miss him.

This is a huge change for me and I am excited more than nervous now. Phew! Once I settle in, in addition to preparing for my class, I will be reworking my soft Waldorf style dolls and outfits.

Cat123 on Etsy for now..but will also be looking into local fairs and come up for workshops and fairs in NY/NJ.

All the best!

Creating away!!

Taking a break from fairs right now...sorting through my craft items and items that I inherited from a dear friend..have given some yarns and fabric away to freecycle people..and have found some treasures that I forgot about (yarns...)

Two dear friends from Warwick reconnected with me recently..asking for help with a lamb marionette kit they purchased..I dug up my notes from my Waldorf training on this item and got excited to make one more myself..I am now on my fourth and doing this, plus reconnecting with these old friends, has really brought such a bright light into my life at this point..somehow, in there, I have realized that I have done so much to "sell" and not enough to enjoy myself, to grow with, to give as a gift, that I need to breathe through this time period in a different way. What does help right now is the economy and that most craft items are struggling to sell at a decent price so making stock for now is ok too..

But I am "breathing" in a different way with this experience and what it has opened up for me...this in addition to other spiritual work that I have been doing..

Of course, some new children that have joined my daycare program allow me to breathe after a challenging November/December..so that is a blessing too..

Maybe, by some miracle, I will also get to the quilting projects that are also in containers, on hold!

I am happiest when I am creating something and/or helping others create..When the children learn how to do something themselves and show such pride, it makes me feel my work has meaning..the same with adults..but last, but not least, when I realize I can do something that I was in fear of learning or of failing, something in me shifts, in a positive way too.

Hope the winter is going well for you!
Life holds many possibilities; the challenge is within us to open up to it..or at least that is what I am trying to learn now!

Fairs Coming up and Sales!

Fall Holiday Fairs

I am planning to be in the Warwick Middle School Fair on December 5th, Saturday, from 10-5 with my dolls, crafts from the school, and knitted and crocheted hats from my mom!

Also, by a miracle, it seems I can get in to the Sugar Loaf Tree Lighting Ceremony/fundraiser for the theatre on Saturday, November 21st from 10-3. They sell completely decorated trees that are donated and have events for children..plus some select vendors. So I feel quite lucky to be included!

Taking orders for Holiday dolls! Fully body dolls $80.00, Gnomes $25.00, Bunting dolls $25.00, Large Millet Babies $80.00...

Workshops: want to make your own? You will need 8 hours for the full body doll..and half that time for the buntings..$55.00 for the workshop and kit (no clothes) for the full body..and $20.00 for the bunting workshop which is approx. 3 hours..Some presewing is done by me in the kit so 3 weeks notice is important! (Note: Large Millet Baby workshop is $60.00)

Hope to see you at the fairs!
